When HIM got their first album ready, the length was only 32 minutes, then they remembered that this song was good in the band’s first demo, even though it was never published. So they put it to the end of record. As it lasted 7 minutes they got the whole album’s length to 40 minutes, which was enough. |

Ville considers Soul On Fire as a mixture between I Love You and Our Diabolical Rapture, he personally compares this song with the sound of a band called "The Cult" and he thinks also that Soul On Fire is the right song to be played first in a gig. In "Soul On Fire" suddenly guitar improvisations step to the foreground, like the good old Led Zeppelin, only harder. "Another fast song we already played last year (2002). "An interesting song, because in my opinion it's the only HIM track, which is build up on a riff. And it's really funny, when you notice that everybody in the band loves Black Sabbath. So we played a bit round at the production - the acoustic guitars, which we are using, is from 1946! Normally this can't work, a shit-guitar with modern equiment. But it worked really well and sounds pretty natural. And the pipes give the whole song an oriantel and psychedelic touch. You can't bring up the 70's again, but I name Sweet Pandemonium our psychedelic-riff-track. And this was a very new experience for us." |

So with Linde we tried to "learn" the song from the tape. It was kind of funny, that we learnt the song a bit wrong. We didn't hear the guitar parts well enough from that "bad quality" tape. We also heard the lyrics wrong, and when the song was later recorded to our first ep, there were a few funny mistakes in the lyrics." |
