HIM part ways with Sire/Warner Music

After 6 years and three albums, Finnish rock band HIM and Sire/Warner Music have decided to part ways.

Seymour Stein, founder of Sire Records says: "It was a pleasure working with HIM, and we're very proud to have been their partners for the last six years. Ville is a rare talent, and my relationship with their manager Seppo dates back to the days when he pioneered rock music in Finland looking after the career of Hanoi Rocks. HIM are particularly important because they are the first and only band from Finland to reach Gold status in America. I, along with the entire Sire/Warner Bros. family, wish them continued success in the future."

HIM's discography on Sire includes the 2005 album Dark Light, which reached gold in the US. Follow-up albums Venus Doom (2007) and Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice (2010) charted both in the US and Europe.

"We're ever so grateful for having had Seymour and Co as the generous hosts on our extended first stay in the New Country. It's been a Blast Royale but now it's time to clean up the rubble and start anew", comments Ville Valo of HIM.

SWRMXS CD Description...

...Reveals very instersting info: “SWRMXS” is a remixed version of HIM’s 2010 album "Screamworks: Love In Theory and Practice." This marks the first time the band has released a full length remix album and it features collaborations with some of the biggest names in electronic music today. Also featured are collaborations with new stars on the electronic scene and remixes by Ville Valo himself.

1. In Venere Veritas (Huoratron Remix) Huoratron is the brainchild of Finish electronic music producer Aku Raski. He began doing remixes in 2003 and is known for producing what has been referred to as Game Boy Music, which is produced using a game system of the Game Boy line.

2. In The Arms Of Rain (SALEM Remix) Salem is a mid-west band from Traverse City, Michigan who gained fast popularity with their 2008 debut, Yes I Smoke Crack. Originally a solo project began by John Holland in 2006, Salem now also includes Heather Marlatt and Jack Donoghue.

3. The Foreboding Sense of Impending Happiness (Morgan Page Remix) Morgan Page is a progressive house and electro house DJ from Los Angeles. His most widely recognized track is "The Longest Road," feat. Lissie, which was included on his debut album Elevate, released in March 2008. The Deadmau5 remix was nominated for a Grammy (Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical).

4. Ode to Solitude (Gavin Russom Remix) Gavin Russom is a producer and musician who has released music under various guises over the years, including Black Leotard Front, Black Meteoric Star and The Crystal Ark, as as well as collaborative work with Delia Gonzalez. Russom also has also designed and built custom analog synthesizers for both his own music and for others'.

5. Heartkiller (The Mercyfvcks Remix) The Mercy Fvcks is a side project and Ville Valo and another way for him to stretch his creativity.

6. Love, The Hardest Way (Tiësto Remix) DJ Tiesto is a Dutch musician, DJ and record producer. His many productions, remixes and performances (including the opening ceremony at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece) has lead to him being widely regarded as the number one DJ in the world.

7. Shatter Me With Hope (oOoOO Remix) Based in San Francisco, CA, oOoOO (Christopher Dexter Greenspan) started as a blog phenomenon and grew into a sought after remixer. Yet he remains mysterious by insisting that in the age of the internet, names and biographical details are less important than visual and sonic codes.

8. Dying Song (Jay Lamar & Jesse Oliver Remix) Fresh off their collaboration on Robyn feat. Royksopp's "None of Dem", Jay Lamar & Jesse Oliver (Ville's brother) collaborate again on "Dying Song".

9. Disarm Me (With Your Loneliness) (VV Remix)

10. Scared To Death (Diamond Cut Remix) Diamond Cut is a New York City outfit whose production and remix credits include Futurecop!, M'Black and Super Mal.

11. Acoustic Funeral / Like St. Valentine / Katherine Wheel (ÖÖ Megamix) ÖÖ consists of Ville and his brother Jesse Oliver. Source Amazon

Album Cover

"i dreamt the image one night, opened up the toolbox in the morn and started smashing the vhs tape to a gazillion tiny bits with a hammer. after its guts were splattered on my kitchen floor, i rather delicately forced the tape to form a heartagram. not too different than creating a remix, see?" - Ville Valo.
